„Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run

 

 

ROUTE:

„Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” is long-distance run (approximately 5 kilometers).

  • Start at Marszałkowska Street, in front of the stage next to the Palace of Culture and Science;
  • Continue straight along Marszałkowska Street;
  • Turn right into Królewska Street;
  • Go on until Piłsudski Square and turn left into Wierzbowa Street;
  • Continue along Wierzbowa Street until you reach Teatralny Square and then turn right into Senatorska Street;
  • Go straight along Senatorska Street and turn right into Miodowa Street;
  • Keep running along Miodowa Street until you get to Zamkowy Square; then turn right into Krakowskie Przedmieście Street;
  • Continue, as Krakowskie Przedmieście changes into Nowy Świat Street and run on to the intersection with Aleje Jerozolimskie;
  • Turn right and run on along Aleje Jerozolimskie until you can turn right into Krucza Street;
  • Continue along Krucza Street, then turn left into Zgoda Street, which later changes into Złota Street;
  • Take the tunnel under Marszałkowska Street and run on to reach the finish line at Defilad Square (in front of the Palace of Culture and Science)!

PROGRAM OF THE EVENT

10:00 AM – The Run’s Registration Office opens – you can register as participants; The Equipment Office/Depository opens – you can pick up your starting sets.
01:25 PM – A common warm-up in front of the stage.
01:35 PM – The participants move to the starting line.
01:45 PM – The Run starts at Marszałkowska Street!
03:30 PM – The Run officially ends.

HOW TO APPLY?

Would you like to take part in the “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run? In order to apply,
register by filling in the application form. You can either do it on-line, on our website, or in person:

  • In the WOŚP Foundation Office between December 15 and January 8, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM,
  • On the day of the Run (the number of participants will be limited!) in the Run’s Registration Office/the Equipment Office, between 10:00 AM and 01:14 PM.

 

After registering on our website, you will receive a special application form along with parents’ consent form (it’s necessary if you’re underage). Make sure you print these two documents out, sign them and on the day of the Run and bring it to the Equipment Office/Depository at the right time. In return for the application form you will receive a starting set*.

Starting sets which haven’t been picked up until 01:14 PM will be given to those who registered too late to be entered as participants in the first place.

Participants must be at least 8 years old on January 10 (in other words they have to be born before January 10, 2002).

All underage participants (aged 8-17) are required to bring a document certifying that they are allowed to take part in such physical activities. The document, which you will find in the bottom part of the application form sent to your e-mail address, must be signed by one of your parents or your legal guardian. The document shall confirm that your parents/your legal guardians consent to your participation in the Run.

A HANDFUL OF USEFUL ADVICE

Take a look a few suggestions which might help you before and during the Run. Please notice that we offer these tips for your convenience:

  • Make sure you come to the event properly dressed – put on your sportswear;
  • Try not to leave many things in the Equipment Office/Depository and don’t take any valuables with you.
  • Leave your items for safekeeping before 1:00 PM to still have some time to get to the starting line.
  • When the Run finishes, don’t forget about stretching your leg muscles. Immediately afterwards go to the Equipment Office/Depository to pick up the things you had left on deposit as soon as possible.
  • Check out the weather forecast for the day of the Run and dress accordingly.
  • Do not eat heavy meals before running. It would be best to eat something light approximately 2 hours before the start.
  • If you want to meet your friends after the Run, feel free to stay at Defilad Square. Our entertainment program will continue until 10:00 PM.

PLAN OF THE SITE

The Run’s Registration Office, The Equipment Office/Depository and the locker rooms will all be situated in the “Runner’s village” in the parking lot at Defilad Square.

PARTICIPANT’S STARTING SET

The participant’s starting set can be picked up after finishing the registration ONLY ON THE DAY OF THE RUN in the DEPOSITORY, which will be situated in the “Runner’s village”. The Depository will opened between 10:00 AM and 01:15 PM.

The participant’s starting set consists of the following elements:
•    A unique T-shirt for the Run;
•    A sack with a special individual number to store your belongings in the Depository;
•    A “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” information leaflet.

All participants who reach the finish line will receive:

•    An occasional medal;
•    A “thank-you” for participation;
•    A participant’s diploma (an e-version of the diploma will be sent to your e-mail)

TRANSPORTATION

  • The participants have to get to the Run’s site on their own.
  • Since the number of parking spots along the route is limited, we suggest that you choose public transport (tramway, bus or subway).
  • The closest bus stop, tram stop and subway station are all called “Metro Centrum”. You can as well get to “Metro Świętokrzyska” and come to Defilad Square on foot.

LOCKER ROOMS

  • On the day of the event you will be able to change in the locker rooms and to leave your private belongings in the Depository. Both the Depository and the locker rooms will be situated in the parking lot in Defilad Square.
  • The items left on deposit will be given ID numbers and will be divided into several sections (1 to 200, 201 to 400, etc.). When leaving your belongings for safekeeping, you should choose the right section (according to your starting number you will have received during the registration).
  • In order to leave your belongings in the Depository, you will have to use the special sack which is given to each participant as a part of the starting set.
  • The number on your sack is the same as the number on your T-shirt. Every participant is obliged to have the T-shirt on during the Run.
  • The organizer cannot be held responsible for any valuables left in the Depository.
  • In case of losing your starting number, the items left by you on deposit will be given back to you after all other sacks have been taken by other participants of the Run.
  • The items which haven’t been taken until the end of the Run, that is until 3:30 PM on January 10, 2010 will be moved to the office of the WOŚP Foundation in 2a Niedźwiedzia Street in Warsaw, where you will be able to pick them up within 14 days after the event in the office working hours (excluding January 11, 2010).
  • The participant understands and accepts the fact that the organizer is not able to verify the contents of sacks with personal belongings and thus shall not respond to any complaints about it after the event’s end.
  • The organizer will spare no effort to protect the sacks left on deposit by participants from theft, being lost or damaged.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Every person registering for the “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run shall be obliged to make himself/herself acquainted with the contents of the Rules and Regulations of the Run.
  • Every participant of the “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run shall be obliged to confirm in writing that he/she has made himself/herself acquainted with the Rules and Regulations of the Run by signing the application form during the registration.
  • All participants of the “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run are obliged to wear their individual T-shirt with their starting number which they shall receive as a part of the participant’s starting set.
  • The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant who is not wearing his/her individual T-shirt and forbid him to take part in the Run.

FINAL PROVISIONS

  • The “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run will, due to weather conditions, require the organizer to close off some streets along the its route.
  • Because our Run is only a happening, its route is not a certified route. Also, the time will not be measured.
  • The participation in the Run is free.
  • There are no age groups and every participant will become an occasional medal on the finish line.
  • The participants shall meet directly before the start of the run.
  • The number of participants of the “Let’s Get Even With Diabetes” Run is limited to 3045 people.
  • The organizer provides medical assistance during the Run, that is on January 10, 2010 between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
  • The organizers reserves the right to change the program of the event. The changes can be announced publicly on the day of the Run.
