CPR for Schools

Since 5 years we have been providing CPR and first aid training for Peace Patrol, volunteers, employees of public institutions, Police, Fire Fighters, and for the last two years we have actively promoted public access to automatic external defibrillation. In the spring 2006 we implemented CPR and first aid classes to elementary schools in Poland.

So far We've Trained

12,084  Teachers

From 6,391 Schools

Program is Targeting

845,880 Children from Primary Schools

Peace Patrollers who are qualified American Heart Association instructors teach school-teachers CPR courses. Previously scheduled classes are run for three days each week, in two different cities in Poland. Each day, we train from 60 up to 80 teachers. Then they get back to their schools and teach kids. Our objective is reaching 1 500 000 children in two years.

Important part of the workshops for teachers is teaching them how to teach children giving first aid, starting from proper calling for help, ending on the most basic actions, which should be performed on an injured person. Our instructors show teachers how to have fun with learning CPR so they can make these classes attractive for their young students.

Besides training, we also provide teachers with materials such as manikins, handbooks, and VCDs.

The purpose of CPR for Schools program is familiarizing children through fun with emergency situations, in which they have to react quickly and overcome the barrier between them and other person. We were inspired to create the project by similar classes in Norwegian schools.

We appreciate support of the companies -Western Union and Pekao SA which sponsored two buses for the instructors, and of course Laerdal Company, which provides us with the manikins.
