Peace Patrol is an official, previously trained group of voluntaries, which watches for safety and provides assistance during our Woodstock Festival, as well as teaches CPR within Programs "CPR for Schools", and "1% of tax for AED".
There are all kinds of people in the Peace Patrol; mainly young, who want to overcome their own weaknesses and fears. Everybody can participate in Peace Patrol training sessions regardless of his or her religious, political, or sexual preferences. They all have to learn co-operation and responsibility for Peace Patrol community and accept working hardly in quite harsh conditions during Woodstock Festival at least once.
For couple of days before the concert, during and then after the event, they are always on duty, at 10 am and 4 pm, 2am and 11 pm. They hardly get any sleep. Two- three hours per night is all they can get. Otherwise, they have to take care of things. They help people getting out of trains to get to the field, they help anybody who needs medical help, they clean up the spot, and they are always aware of what is going on. On sunny days and when it's raining cats and dogs.
They work for free. All we offer is a secure campsite and food. No money. Still, many people apply each year and join Peace Patrol community. As of today we've trained nearly 5000 people.
Throughout spring, summer, and early fall we teach future Peace Patrol members. Each session lasts three days and at the end everybody has to take an exam. If they pass, they can become guardians during our summer festival and participate in other projects involving Peace Patrol. They are trained in CPR and giving first aid, in civil law, and law responsibility.
Preparing people to become Peace Patrol during the Festival inspired us to run regular CPR and first aid classes, in co-operation with American Heart Association, not only for future Peace Patrol but for anybody who wants to learn CPR and first aid.
We funded training facility – Szadowo Mill. Our goal is to teach people how to react properly when human life is in danger.
All PP members are hard working, and enthusiastic. We appreciate their commitment and efforts. And we are proud of their work results marked at the Woodstock Festivals.
At the end, all participants receive special T-shirt with Peace Patrol logo and special kit box. It's a kind of Peace Patrol identification, wherever they are.
Training plan: -Heartsaver/AED Course – American Heart Association Certificate
-Civil law, law responsibility - discuss with the Police |
